    Job Description

    Summary/Objective: Forklift Material Handlers receive and move materials/product through the manufacturing area and verify products against manufacturing orders to ensure the accuracy of the materials being moved. Forklift Material Handlers are accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle. Material Handlers count or weigh parts to check quantity accuracy, perform transactions in the SAP inventory system, and move material by using Forklifts and utilizing SAP transactions.

    Essential Functions

    • Complete daily forklift inspection report and submit to Supervisor/Lead. Immediately advise Supervisor/Lead of any issues or concerns during shift regarding the Forklift.
    • Perform daily functions with extreme care as dispatched and/or requested by Supervisor/ Lead in the time allocated per company standards.
    • Utilize scan equipment to properly report movement of product or materials in SAP.
    • Safely expedite material/product through the manufacturing area.
    • Promptly report questionable conditions or questionable product conformities to the Supervisor/Lead.
    • Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
    • Responsible for keeping track of company tools and equipment.
    • Observe and act upon forklift malfunction warnings and alarm signals. Advise Supervisor of unsafe equipment or driving conditions. Do not operate any forklift which is unsafe to drive. Do not drive through spills or water on the floor.
    • Responsible for correct quantity counts of material and scrap and accurate reporting.
    • Know and comply with the carrying capacity weight, the lift capacity weight and the load weight being transported.
    • Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, as well as general hygiene regulations. Assist in sweeping floors and/or cleaning production area when needed or requested.
    • Comply with all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
    • Responsible for being a productive, proactive, and contributing team member in a fast paced environment.
    • Adhere to all safety standards and company policies including, but not limited to, attending mandatory safety training and consistently sounding alarms as required when operating a forklift. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
    • Be an active participant in lean events as directed by supervisor.
    • Responsible for advising Supervisor/Lead of any oil leaks and responsible for the proper and immediate clean-up of any spill.
    • Preform other duties as assigned.

    Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to operate simple hand and power tools such as screw drivers, pliers, cut-off saws, scan guns, etc.
    • Knowledge of OSHA requirements for operating a forklift.
    • Ability to safely drive, operates, and maneuvers a forklift. Requires precision and attention to detail.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, squat, for prolonged periods
    • Must have manual dexterity, strong hand-eye-foot coordination, a good sense of balance, and the ability to accurately judge distances. Ability to work levers, buttons, and/or foot pedals, simple gauges, and other instruments.
    • Familiarity with radio frequency equipment required.
    • A good attitude and common sense required. Must be a team player and work well with others as well as work independently in an honest and dependable manner.
    • Able to understand and follow instructions/directions and to observe and learn from experienced Madix personnel.
    • Available to work weekends and/or overtime.
    • Ability to work and concentrate in a noisy environment.
    • Ability to wear protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, boots, respirators, etc.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    Education & Experience

    • Madix Forklift certification required. Prior experience a plus
    • Basic mathematical knowledge/skills; must be able to count parts accurately.
    • Ability to read and write required.
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English and computer skills a plus.

    Work Environment

    • Manufacturing plant environment with extreme fluctuation in temperature.
    • Dusty and noisy environment.
    • Exposure to odors and fumes.
